About Me
Hey pals! I’m so happy you stopped by my little corner of the internet. Welcome! What you see on Nate Green Art is the culmination of a long, winding road complete with potholes, detours for construction, and a few speed traps for good measure.
So, how did I become the version of myself you see here? Well, let’s roll the highlights…

I grew up in a medium sized town in west Texas (town motto: "Where the east ends and the boring begins!”). Early on, I knew that I had a creative mind with a quirky (read odd, yet endearing) sense of humor, but I didn’t consider myself artistic. Soon though, it was made clear to me that I had no talent in the creative arena (you know who you are, art teachers of Lawndale elementary school).

Next stop, college, where I earned a degree in management and married a beautiful woman. For some reason, my wife continues to put up with all my nonsense-I think it’s because she enjoys projects. Fast-forward a few years, and Management Nate felt unfulfilled. That creative itch I had was being smothered, not scratched, and something needed to change.

-- Construction ahead. Expect delays. --
So, I did what any creatively inclined human person would do… I got an engineering degree and worked as an engineer for over a decade. Not a joke. I liked my coworkers and people told me I was good at it, but the itch remained unscratched.
-- Exit Now. Road Closed Ahead. --
Then COVID hit, and everything changed for everyone, everywhere. In that strange new world of quarantining and remote work, I started spending time with a couple of friends who are artists. When we got together, we’d each take a canvas and paint for 10 minutes. When the time was up, ready or not, we’d exchange paintings, repeating the process until one of us decided a painting was complete. I loved the experience and it made me realize that maybe I did have some artistic talent after all.
-- End of Construction Zone (For Now) --
In 2023, I realized that engineering wasn’t doing me any favors (or, as I actually say when telling the story IRL, "my brain tried to kill me"), so I took a leap and left engineering behind to focus on my art. This career is beautiful, weird, and challenging, but I love every brushstroke and I hope you do too!

Artist’s Note: I apologize for the road analogy that I pummeled into submission here. As an apology, please consider creating your own traffic related pun letting me know how much it upset you. (example "I wish Nate would zipper merge his mouth shut" or "That about me section was so self indulgent that Nate should be hit by a car!" (THANKS INTERNAL MONOLOGUE!)).
